Center for the Study of the Gulf South
The Center for the Study of the Gulf South (CSGS) promotes the study of the history of the U.S. South and territories in Central America and the Caribbean through scholarship, funding research and hosting public events. We offer strengths in several critical eras–the colonial Gulf South, slavery and abolition, the Civil War era, the Civil Rights Movement and other mobilizations for citizenship and equality. We’re proud to be the host institution of the Gulf South Historical Foundation.
