Hosted by the Southern Miss Viola Studio under the direction of Dr. Hsiaopei Lee, the festival will take place on October 25 and 26 on the Hattiesburg campus. With generous support from the Partners of the Arts and Corelli Strings, this 15th edition of the Viola Festival will feature esteemed violists Christine Rutledge and Julia Bullard.
October 25, 6 p.m.: Julia Bullard Viola Recital
There will be a special recital featuring Dr. Julia Bullard and Dr. Michael Bunchman as part of the 2024 Viola Festival. The repertoire includes works by Bach, Bridge, Glinka and Clara Schumann, promising a captivating musical experience.
October 26, 2 p.m.: Christine Rutledge Viola Recital
Dr. Christine Rutledge will present a recital featuring the baroque viola. Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience the rich sounds of this historical instrument. The repertoire will include exquisite works by Telemann and Bach
October 26, 3:30 p.m. Viola Festival Concert
The conclusion of the annual Viola Festival is a cherished tradition of a final concert featuring all participants. This celebration is an opportunity to witness the talent and dedication of violists of all ages and levels.
