CMCB Fall Seminars: William Wimley, Ph.D., Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

The Center for Molecular and Cellular Biosciences (CMCB) is hosting a series of 10 seminars with top university scientists, sponsored by Mississippi IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE), Our fourth seminar in the series will feature Dr. William Wimley, a professor of biology at Tulane University School of Medicine.

The primary theme of Dr. Wimley's research is the structure, folding and design of proteins in membranes. His seminar is titled, “Synthetic Molecular Evolution of Membrane-Permeabilizing Antimicrobial Peptides."

His research group uses both traditional and combinatorial chemistry to design and engineer peptide models that assemble into membrane proteins or that interact with membrane proteins
