Concert Band and Wind Ensemble in Concert

The University of Southern Mississippi School of Music proudly presents a joint concert with the USM Concert band and the Wind Ensemble.

The Southern Miss Concert Band is a varsity musical ensemble for the music majors and non-majors alike.  Performing traditional band literature, the ensemble provides a performance medium for the busy student musician.  The Concert Band is under the direction of Travis Higa.

The Wind Ensemble is the premiere musical ensemble for music majors. The Wind Ensemble has joined consortiums and performed new compositions by Kevin Day, David Maslanka, and Alan Theisen while continuing to perform traditional band literature. This concert will feature works by Jennifer Jolly, “The Eyes of World Are Upon You” conducted by graduate conductor, Kyle Aufderhar, and Julie Giroux’s new work with film, “Symphony No. 6 The Blue Marble”. The Wind Ensemble is under the current direction of Catherine Rand.
