DESCRIPTION:The Center for Ethics and Health Humanities will be hosting a s
 creening of Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution\, a 2020 Sundance award-win
ning documentary. The film documents Camp Jened\, a ramshackle camp in the
early 1970s set up “for the handicapped\,” a term no longer used. Man
y of the camp’s residents went on to become important figures in the dis
ability rights movement\, leading eventually to the passage of the federal
Americans with Disabilities Act.\n\nOne of the camp’s residents was Jim
LeBrecht\, who co-produced and co-directed the film. Jim will join us vir
tually from his home immediately following the screening for personal comm
ents and a Q&A session with attendees.\n\nThose who cannot attend in perso
n are invited to join in via Zoom. Registration is required.\n\nFor more i
nformation\, please contact Dr. Sam Bruton via email at Samuel.Bruton@usm.
