Linda Beach: Arboreal Musings Workshop with Linda Beach: Piecing It All Together - The Art of Quilt Design
About this Event
3000-3082 Pearl St, Hattiesburg, MS 39401
If you’ve ever wanted to take that “next step” and follow your own creative quilting path, this could be the starting point for you. As part of the Gallery of Art & Design Visiting Artist Series, Linda Beach will present a workshop about her approach to design, her piecing technique and how that technique influences her pattern drafting. From beginning fabric choices to final finished edges, the workshop will cover Linda’s process for creating pieced art quilts. This is not a hands-on workshop, but a tutorial to supply attendees with the information necessary to begin their projects at home.
Workshop space is limited to 20 participants from beginner to advanced. Basic operation of a sewing machine is helpful. To register for this free workshop, go to Eventbrite.com and search for Linda Beach.
Linda Beach is an award-winning fiber artist whose work has been commissioned for many public art installations as well as juried into a number of nationally prominent art exhibitions. The depth and complexity that she achieves in her quilts has led to the inclusion of her work in several notable publications and books, as well as making her a sought-after lecturer and teacher. Linda has served on the Board of Directors for Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) and as an artist-in-residence at Denali, Rocky Mountain, Acadia and Mesa Verde National Parks. She currently works out of her studio near New Orleans, Louisiana.
