Middle- and high-school students (grades 6-12) will showcase original historical research on the 2025 theme, Rights and Responsibilities, in five categories: exhibits, documentaries, performances, papers and websites. Competitors are divided into the Junior Division (grades 6-8) and Senior Division (grades 9-12). Winners advance to the state competition, with top finishers qualifying for nationals.

Hosted by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) in partnership with National History Day, with regional support from Southern Miss and MUW, this event celebrates student achievement in history. It culminates with an Awards Ceremony starting at 2 p.m.
