The Wind Ensemble is one of the premiere musical ensembles of Southern Miss. 

The organization presents several concerts throughout the academic calendar spanning a wide variety of styles, including traditional and avant-garde. Since 1985 the ensemble has performed at Mississippi Bandmasters Association conventions, All-South Honor Band, three regional College Band Directors National Associations and two National Conventions of the American Bandmasters Association. The Wind Ensemble currently is under the direction of Catherine Rand.
